One "Depleted" Momma!

Wheessshh! For years, I have underestimated the consuming force two boys can have on a mother...that is, until now! Levi is now a month old and Rio is a feisty little one-year-old who simply can't get enough of momma! We've established a routine, but between sleepless nights, diaper changes, lunches and playtime, there's no time for little ol' me. Ha! And I thought I was going to be bored staying at home with the kiddos...with nothing to do. LOL! Boy was I wrong!

To be honest, my hubby and I were thinking about changing things up once we arrive in Fort Worth, allowing him to earn a degree (with his GI bill) while I worked. However, just the thought of leaving my two little guys with someone else all day, makes me feel uneasy and protective. So, we're going to try and make things work to where I can stay home with the kids until they're older. I  feel silly having a degree and not putting it to use, but my boys are more important. The way I see it is, there will be PLENTY of time to work, but kids grow up fast and we must take advantage of these precious moments we have with them, for as long as we can. Before you know it, my little guys will be all grown up and I don't want to be stuck with the thought, "If only I had been there..."

Anyhow, congrats to all you mommies who, so lovingly pour out every ounce of energy, patience and love into everyday of your child's life. It's a tiring road at times, but well worth it :0) Here are a few pictures that motivate me, no matter what kind of day I might be having.

Sweet little Levi already knows how to pose for the camera!
Rio cracks me up when he makes his silly little faces!
Ahh, Rio is putting his climbing skills to use by climbing on the dishwasher! Crazy kiddo! Gotta love 'em!

I hope y'all enjoyed :0) xoxo!

  1. There is definitely no room for boredom as a stay at home mom with little ones. They will keep you occupied pretty much every minute of the day as you've already learned. But yes, in the end, the reward of being able to be there for all their 'firsts' and watching them grow is beyond wonderful. Time certainly does fly by as they say so take advantage of every day you have with them. Mayah is already gonna be seven and I feel like she was just learning how to walk and say her first words not too long ago.
Thanks for sharing those pictures of the boys. Rio is such a cutie pie posing while he's getting into trouble. And little Levi looks so sweet with his eyes open. He looks so alert, like he knows he's being photographed. Love you guys!Oh, did you take that first pic of Rio when he was sick? His cheeks look kind of red, I was just wondering if it was the rash you were telling me about the other day.

  2. Motherhood = Self Denial
Boy have I learned this in the last few years! There's nothing sweeter though, than the bond you are able to form with your children when you are there by their side. As a mom, you will also realize that no one knows and consequently can care for your little ones quite as well as you can. You become so in tune to their needs. I'm so happy to hear that you'll be staying home to enjoy this precious time with your "little guys". I think it's admirable that you've prioritize your children even with a degree. Your degree will not only be put to good use in the future but it's your education that has made you who you are today. You carry it with you. It's a gift you pass on daily to your children, teaching them by example so many things, such as how to speak using proper English, how to reason logically, etc. You are their #1 teacher. By the way, great book of activities to do with little ones from birth through age five is "Slow and Steady, Get Me Ready" by June Oberlander. The boys look absolutely precious. That little godson of mine has got a mischievous glow in his eyes. Hold on to your britches momma! You're in for a bumpy ride! ;o) Esta fino mi niƱo. And Levi....well, he might just grow up to be a model, with those smoldering good looks and that intense stare. Too handsome for his own good, I tell ya! :o) I love you girlie. Miss you so much. Kisses to the little guys, howdy to your hubs.

  3. Lisa, I just found your blog and I love it. What a great way to keep up with each others lives. The picture of Levi in all his newborn sweetness makes me kinda miss having a newborn around :-) Rio is such a handsome little fellow and it is amazing to me that he is already able to get around and onto that dishwasher door. Time flies! I think it is such a blessing that you have chosen to really be there to enjoy these years with the boys. I know I have never regretted staying home with my brood and would do it all over again in a heartbeat (though it ain't easy, no siree!!)Just live IN THE MOMENT Lisa and savor every minute because before you know it they will be lanky, almost taller than you, 11 yr olds, whose feet and hands will be bigger than yours, and whose t-shirts you will be able to wear ( yes, Seth's hands and feet are now bigger than mine and I have been known to wear his t-shirts in a pinch lol). Funny thing is I feel like it was just yesterday I was in a state of perpetual exhaustion because he loved breastfeeding every two hours and would not sleep through the night!:)
